The Work Doesn’t Stop. It Just Finds a New Home.

I ran for Congress because of my commitment to our community, to working people in Illinois, and to our United States Constitution. We didn’t win that race, but I want you to hear me clearly: the work doesn’t stop. It never did. Today, I’m writing to share with you where it goes next, how we build together, and why I cannot do this without you.

First, my gratitude. To everyone who knocked on doors, made phone calls, donated their hard-earned money, and cast a vote for our campaign, I want to start with two words I cannot repeat enough: thank you.

You believed that a different kind of politics was possible. You believed that a veteran and scientist from Illinois could go to Washington and actually fight for the people instead of the powerful. You showed up, and that means everything to me.

“I did not run for office to build a career. I ran because I believe in a future built on absolute justice. That belief didn’t expire on Election Day.”

Therefore, I have some exciting news. Today, I am proud to announce that I’ve joined Let’s Address This as the Illinois State Director. Let’s Address This is a project founded by human rights lawyer Qasim Rashid. Our mission is simple, but urgent: to provide objective, consistent, and clear insights on social justice and human rights issues that matter most to the people of Illinois and beyond.

Here’s the truth about the information landscape you already know in your gut: local media has been decimated. Thanks in large part to corporate interests and private equity, newsrooms have been gutted. The outlets that remain are increasingly owned by billionaires who have their own interests - those interests are rarely yours. Trust in legacy media is at historic lows, and for good reason.

Meanwhile, the issues don’t get simpler. Marginalized communities continue to be ignored. Governments make decisions behind closed doors. Corporate power expands, unchecked. Too many people (thoughtful, caring people just like you) are left without the trusted resources they need to understand what’s really happening and why it matters.

Let’s Address Illinois exists to fill that gap in Illinois and beyond. We go deep on the human rights issues that corporate media passes over. We bring receipts. We disentangle fact from fiction. We make sure marginalized voices and stories are heard and represented. And we do it in a way that is accessible to everyone - not just policy insiders or legal scholars.

I bring to this work everything I brought to the campaign - my background as a pro peace US Army veteran who has seen what is worth fighting for, my training as a cancer research scientist who demands evidence and precision, and my commitment as a community member who refuses to look away when justice is on the line.

We will not be afraid to call out MAGA fascism, corporate Democrat complicity, genocide in Palestine, or attacks on marginalized communities at home. Instead, we will hold the powerful accountable and elevate those individuals, candidates, public servants, and organizations doing the honest and hard work to uphold absolute justice.

Together, pulling from over a decade of human rights advocacy, we will continue to build something rare: a platform you can actually trust. Not because we’re perfect, but because we are accountable. Accountable to you, not to advertisers, not to donors with agendas, not to political machines. The movement you helped build during my campaign for US Congress has not disappeared. It is here, and it is growing.
